After eating and drinking our way through Reno our first day, I joined the rest of the Creators of Cool Collective for a trip up the mountain to Diamond Peak Ski Resort to officially kick off our #TahoeTakeover.
Being that the slopes opened up at 9 am and Incline Village was about 45 minutes away from our resort, it was an early start for us for sure. However, the morning sun over the snow-covered hills was enough of a vision to energize us along the road trip up.
After meeting up with our guide Paul and getting all our rental equipment together, we set out for our lessons. A few members of the group had skied before, but I was definitely NOT one of them. I think I got the hang of it decently, but my ass met the ice on more than one occasion.
Next, it was time for a trip further up the mountain for lunch. Paul was nice enough to let us ride up the incredibly steep ski lift to the Snowflake lodge to enjoy tri-tip, burgers, and some spiked beverages to stave off the cold at the mountain’s peak.
After having our meal, we drove down the road a bit to NuLeaf Tahoe Marijuana Dispensary. Fun fact: recreational and medicinal marijuana products are 100% legal in Nevada. So you know, when in Rome…
We all got a tour of the facility and most of us even took home an edible product or four to enjoy during the rest of our time in the area.
We finished off our day back in Reno with an AMAZING dinner at Louis Basque Corner and a comedy/magic show from Michael Carbonaro (which those herbal refreshments helped make extremely enjoyable), and a night raging at LEX Nightclub into the wee hours of the morning.
And we certainly felt those wee hours when we woke up and made our trek back up the mountain, this time to Heavenly Mountain Ski Resort, for a gondola ride up an even higher incline.
Yes, yes…ski slopes are cold. Somehow, the main thing I didn’t bank on was that ski slopes are freakin’ COLD. Seriously, I couldn’t find enough layers to fight the chill at the top of the Heavenly Mountain observation deck. But the view of Lake Tahoe at sunset was much more breathtaking than the frigid air could ever hope to be, so it definitely was worth every shiver.
Special thanks to Argentum Partners for their hospitality, and linking us with the best restaurants, activities, and smoke shops in town!
